The Benefits of Coconut Oil

 

  1. Cooking / Eating
    Substituting coconut oil in place of vegetable or olive oil for cooking has many health benefits. Coconut oil is high in lauric acid, a saturated fatty acid.  Saturated fats increase healthy (HDL) cholesterol levels in the body but also helps to convert “bad” (LDL) cholesterol into good cholesterol. Increased levels of HDL in the body reduces blood pressure and lowers the risk of heart disease.
  2. Hair
    Using coconut oil in your hair can have many benefits:
    -It improves the overall health of your hair by stimulating growth and preventing breakage and split ends. Regular use can help your hair grow longer, thicker, shinier and softer.
    -It can also be used to treat dandruff, a result of dry scalp or a fungal Infection. Coconut oil has strong antiviral, antibacterial and antifungal properties, promoting a healthy scalp.

  3. Skin
    Coconut oil is one of the best moisturisers out there and everyone can enjoy the benefits of using it whether you have dry skin or oily skin.
    -If you have dry skin, apply a small amount to your hands and massage into the affected area. Allow it to absorb for a few minutes and then dry off the excess. This will help lock in moisture by reducing that lost through evaporation throughout the day.
    -If you have oily skin do same as above but after you leave it to absorb wash off with warm water and dry off excess.   4. Makeup Remover
    It is important to remove your makeup every night. Not doing so can lead to skin/eye irritation, blackheads, dry skin and premature aging!
    Coconut oil is a brilliant natural makeup remover that is also good for your skin. Simply massage a small amount of coconut oil into your skin and remove with warm water and a cotton pad.
